John Starr is AJ Starr’s uncle and lives in Conyers, Georgia. He has nearly 30 years of experience in the field of education currently teaching and coaching at Salem High School located within the Rockdale County School System.
Among his many accolades and accomplishments are a State Championship Title in which he led the T.W. Josey Eagles (Augusta, Ga) to in 1995, selection as AAA State Coach of the Year, named All-Stars Coach on numerous occasions, and citizenship and community activist awards.
Although John has received numerous awards over his career, his greatest reward comes from having assisted over 100 young men receive scholarships in order to pursue their dream of playing at the collegiate level and beyond.
In his spare time John loves to cook and spend time with family and friends. John is currently pursuing his Doctoral Degree in Sports Leadership.
John is married to Jennie Starr. They have two children, John Il and Janai.
Bernard J. Logan
Bernard J. Logan, Director – Operations- Washington, DC Metro Area for Verizon Communications, joined the telephony industry in October 1978. During that 36 year period, Bernard has held a variety of positions with greater responsibilities at each level.
Bernard attended high school in Halifax County, Virginia and upon graduation, he attended Hampton University where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree. He would later attend the American University where he completed a Master’s of Science Program in Information Systems.
Bernard also serves as a board member of Virginia Advanced Study Strategies and recently completed the LEAD VIRGINIA Program with Leaders from other industries within the Commonwealth Of Virginia.
Bernard currently resides in the Richmond, Va. Area with Mari, his wife of 30 years and in his spare time, he run the family Angus Cattle farm in Halifax County, Va. Mari and Bernard attends service at the Metropolitan Baptist Church.
Roy “Buddy” Knapp is a retired educator and coach with more than 35 years experience. Knapp graduated from Ranburne High School in Alabama. After high school, he received a Bachelor of Science degree from Jacksonville State University and Master’s degree from West Georgia University. Knapp’s parents were educators and he has a son that is also a current educator and coach.
Knapp’s coaching career was mostly in Georgia where he accrued over 400 wins, numerous championships, induction into three school’s Hall of Fame and the Georgia Athletic Director and Coaches Hall of Fame. He has held various position’s in fraternal athletic director’s and coaches’ organizations. Among them, he served as state president of the Georgia Athletic Director’s Association.
Knapp’s community work had an emphasis on Substance Abuse Prevention Programs. He implemented Georgia’s first drug testing program for athletes. He has served as a state and national presenter as well as received special recognition form the United States Drug Enforcement Administration. Former Georgia Governor Joe Frank Harris honored Knapp by bestowing upon him the state’s Honorary Lieut-Colonel citation for work in the field of drug prevention.
Knapp is married to Rita and they reside in Centre, Alabama. They have a blended family of four sons and a daughter as well as three grandchildren. He currently serves as a volunteer coach on his son Brian’s coaching staff.
